RL with Azula - So you thought you were safe?

Zel was in a very good mood. Quite apart from feeling as if he was drunk out of his mind, he was almost certain he'd actually managed to win an argument with Azula for the first time in... ever. He managed to force himself to stop being smug, being aware, if only through a haze of alcohol he hadn't actually consumed, that this would not be useful in helping Azula.

He was still having trouble with the concept of her not wanting his help - surely if the virus was that bad she should welcome someone willing to help her relieve it? Eventually he dismissed it as Azula being her normal difficult self and decided that she'd surely warm up to the idea eventually. He couldn't help giggling a little at the unintentional pun in his own internal monologue, either.

He hummed happily to himself as he he gave a slightly arrhythmic knock at the door to her room. "Hello, Fire Lord?" he called out.

"'course not, 'zula." He cradled her gently. "We won't let it take you, either."

She frowned. "I can do it myself."

"Don' get all frowny on us, 'zula," he murmured. "'course you can, but we still don't wanna lose you."

She hmmed her approval. "She'd be upset. Even the replacement Ty Lee would be upset."

"Mhm. Lotsa people'd be upshet..." he mumbled, holding onto her a little more tightly. "'cluding me..."

"Only Lisa really matters." And maybe the other world's Ty Lee, but she wasn't about to admit that even when asleep.

She made a noise that almost sounded like purring. "I'd miss her."

It seemed like a perfectly natural idea, at least to him. With her so close and apparently in need of cheering up, it seemed like a wonderful idea to close the distance between them and give her a gentle peck on the cheek.

Even that didn't wake her up-- she'd been kissed on the face before, by Ty Lee or Cuddy (or other people, during viruses). She twisted a little, her arm coming across Zel's back.

His lips brushed against her cheek once more, and, growing bolder, he debated how badly he'd get hurt if he kissed her lips.

She kicked her legs out to the side, burrowing closer to him.

He considered this for a while before deciding that the worst she could possibly do to him was kill him and lowered his head, just barely brushing his lips against hers.

That didn't wake her up, either-- she'd been kissed on the lips before too (by Ty Lee and, again, other people during viruses). She didn't kiss back, but she didn't pull away.

Blushing brightly, Zel kissed her what he swore would be one last time, letting it linger for just a moment this time.

"You feeling okay, 'zula?" he asked softly, running a hand through her hair gently. No, said it would be the last time... but she hasn't woken up yet. And she looks like she enjoys it...

"What time is it?" she murmured.

"Why?" he asked softly, glancing at the clock.

"Curious."

"Mm... 'bout three. Too early to wake up yet." He'd been unable to focus on the clock properly, so this was entirely made up.

"Hmmm. Rachel won't start crying yet." She snuggled against his shoulder-- still fully asleep, obviously.

"Mmm... Right." Telling himself that this really would be the last time, he kissed her lips once more, holding it longer still now.

"I can tell her to shut u-- mmph." She still didn't kiss back, but she still let him stay where he was.
