And I'm on the run from the kingdom of Ruvinagald, tagging along with Lina and Gourry again, and she's going on about little furry animals with swords of light. I'm a bit surprised it's taken this long for things to get back to normal.

... It probably says something about me that being on the run in the company of a violent sorceress with unexplained events is 'normal'.

Well, a lot of this happened while I was a wandering adventurer - it isn't the world that's dangerous so much as my profession, and the fact that my friends are a trouble magnet.

Well, mostly I travel to places where I can get paid for doing things. To be honest, I was more or less a mercenary - bodyguard for some politician, clear out a cave full of monsters, that sort of thing.

But this is a full-time thing - I'm protecting the daughter of the Crown Prince of Seyruun, who's a friend of mine. Ah, the daughter, I mean; I know Amelia better than I do Prince Philionel.

Oh, it's really not necessary. There's a reason I've never really made a big deal about my birthday before - it's happened when we were traveling together before now.

[And this is Zel scrambling to try and keep his cool. He was feeling good about not being as affected by Xelloss as usual... right up until now, when Xelloss has proved to still be able to catch him off-guard.]
