[He regards his ice cream a moment before licking it.]

Well, it wasn't anything pressing.

Aren't I allowed to greet an old friend from halfway across the country? It isn't every day such a thing is possible, after all. I thought it would be amusing.

I was referring to the possibility of you intending to assassinate one of them. I can't tell who you are over text. It's not like you usually bother with writing letters, anyway.

[So he says while twirling his forefinger after scooping a bit of ice cream on it. He sticks it in his mouth.]

"Civil" and "nice" aren't always the same thing.

It took you long enough to notice. But yes. The method's most likely going to come back and bite me eventually, but so far it's actually worked out rather well.

[He draws closer and closer until ~~a very purple Eye of Sauron~~ his eye fills the screen.]

[It blinks, and he draws back. A hand scratches at his cheek.]

A book's not quite the same...

A book? Hm. I ended up finding a computer. Which is really sort of strange, since no one's invented them on this world yet.

Oh? A computer is what? Not a person with a tablet, surely.

Oh, no. I'm sorry, I've had this thing so long I'd forgotten computer actually meant something in our world.

No, it's a sort of... machine. I suppose it must have started out as a device to do the same thing, but they seem to do more or less everything in worlds with more advanced technology than ours.

Goodness. How have you been keeping it hidden? The guilds would be all over it in an instant. What an amazing fuss it would cause!

I'd been keeping it in my room or my bag most of the time. In any case this one folds up - when it's closed it just looks like a large book.

Well, you've certainly piqued my curiosity, seeing as you most likely have the only specimen in the entire continent.
